Id-Dħul fil-Ħajja Nisranija

Illum, qegħdin ngħixu f’kultura u f’soċjetà li permezz tagħha aħna nistgħu nsiru nsara b’mod awtomatiku u bil-kuntatt biss. Il-fidi tagħna ma tistax tinbdet u tikber biss bil-kuntatt li jkollna mal-oħrajn fis-soċjetà li fiha qegħdin ngħixu. Barra minn hekk, il-familji f’Malta, bħal dawk ta’ pajjiżi oħra, donnha ċediet ir-rwol edukattiv tagħha. Dan huwa rwol primarju u fundamentali għall-formazzjoni u l-edukazzjoni tal-fidi ta’ wliedhom.

parrocci 2 Dan wassal għal sitwazzjoni li fiha t-tfal iridu jirċievu edukazzjoni partikulari għall-fidi, fi strutturi organizzati apposta għalhekk, u li permezz tagħhom jidħlu b’mod gradwali fil-ħajja tal-Knisja. Din hija r-raġuni għaliex il-Knisja f’Malta daħlet għall-proġett li l-għan ewlieni tiegħu huwa d-dħul fil-ħajja nisranija tat-tfal fi ħdan il-ħajja tal-parroċċa.

L-isem ta’ dan il-proġett: Programm ta’ Katekeżi għad-Dħul fil-Ħajja Nisranija juri dak li aħna qegħdin nippruvaw nilħqu permezz ta’dan il-proġett ta’ formazzjoni. Qegħdin nippruvaw inżommuj ’l bogħod kemm jista’ jkun mill-idea li l-katekeżi teżisti biss u hija neċessarja biex it-tfal ikunu jistgħu jirċievu s-sagramenti tad-dħul fil-ħajja nisranija (Magħmudija, Griżma tal-Isqof, Tqarbin). Il-katekeżi hija neċessarja biex it-tfal ikunu jistgħu jgħixu tassew il-ħajja nisranija fid-dinja tallum. Madankollu, is-sagramenti tad-dħul fil-ħajja nisranija xorta huma parti mportanti minn din il-mixja, imma minflok huma meqjusa bħala punt ta’ wasla, huma meqjusa u maħsuba bħala taraġ importanti fil-mixja lejn il-ħajja nisranija.

Il-Programm ta’ Formazzjoni għad-Dħul fil-Ħajja Nisranija jieħu l-forma ta’ apprendistat fejn it-tfal jidħlu bil-mod il-mod fil-fidi nisranija u fil-ħajja tal-Knisja permezz ta’ vjaġġ li fih it-tfal jitgħallmu kif jgħixu ta’ nsara billi jippruvaw jgħixu ta’ nsara. Dan huwa bil-kontra ta’ dak li jipproġettaw programmi duttrinali. Dawn il-programmi duttrinali għandhom l-għan li jgħallmu t-tagħlim tal-Knisja mingħajr ma jippruvaw jgħinuhom jifhmu dak li jitgħallmu. B’hekk ma jkunux jistgħu jpoġġu dak li jitgħallmu fil-prattika. Xorta, il-progamm li qed nipproponu ma jeskludix l-użu tal-memorja fil-katekeżi.

Christian Initiation

Today, we are no longer living in a social and cultural situation in which we can depend on religious socialisation for the education and the maturation of the faith of our children. Moreover, the Maltese family, like families in other countries, seems to have abdicated its primary and fundamental role in the religious and spiritual formation of its offspring. This has led to a situation in which children need to be educated for the faith in another way through a structured itinerary which gradually inserts them into the life of the Church. This is the reason why the Church in Malta has embarked on a project whose primary objective is the Christian initiation of children within the parish setting.

The name of the programme: Catechetical Programme for Christian Initiation shows the change which we are trying to effect through this formation programme. We are trying to distance ourselves from the idea that catechesis exists and is necessary only for the administration of the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist). Catechesis is necessary to be able to live a truly Christian parrocci 3life in our contemporary world. However, the sacraments of initiation still form a part of it, but instead of being considered as points of arrival, they are only projected as important strategic points on the journey towards full embracing full Christianity.

The Catechetical Programme for Christian Initiation takes the form of an apprenticeship in which the child is gradually inserted into the life and the faith of the church through a hands-on journey in which one learns by doing or being. This is opposed to doctrinal programmes whose aims are just to teach Christian doctrine to children without trying to help them understand what they know, and thus put it into practice. Notwithstanding this, the programme being used does not neglect the use of memory.
